One more week to go!

February 23, 2008 · 2 Comments

On Friday, February 29th, I’ll be hosting the One-Drawing-A-Day Challenge Exhibition, hopefully with a packed house! My students get to see their artwork on the walls of our school twice a year, but I like the idea of this show including parents and teachers too. It’s important to me that they see art as an activity that will continue after “art class” ends. I’m curious about the work that has been made, and I hope everyone will decide to display what they’ve been making!

Here are a few more sketches of mine:

This is such a great idea Emily. Can you ask if any teachers have accepted art work as a way to demonstrate concept mastery in the content areas?? Now that would be thinking outside the box. Of course the mediums may be wide and diverse too. Best of luck with this project. This will be an excellent activity to write up in a documented accomplishments of the National Board Portfolio too, should you eventually decide to go that route. Students, teachers, community, what more could you ask for?

Thanks, Cathy! I know that many of the teachers in my school use artwork as a form of journaling and demonstrations of concept mastery- though this may also stem from the fact that I’m in a Montessori school.
I feel out of the loop- I had to google the National Board Portfolio. Looks like something I should be doing.
BTW- It’s always funny seeing photos of my mom in unexpected places, like your blog. Heh.
